NFL Week 8 Upset Predictions & Picks; Spread Underdogs to Win

NFL Week 8 Upset Predictions & Picks; Spread Underdogs to Win by Michael Luchies

This season has been filled with huge underdogs not only covering spreads but winning games. Just look at the St. Louis Rams the last two weeks upsetting both Dallas and Washington! In both games you could get upwards of 3-1 odds on this single game. This week I am not holding out and picking 1 point underdogs. Here are this weeks upset picks to look for.

Atlanta Falcons (+8.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Don’t look now but the Falcons are 4-2 and Matt Ryan looks like he was worth the rediculous amount of money that the Falcons gave him. Both the Falcons and the 3-3 Eagles are coming off of bye weeks. The Eagles Brian Westbrook says he’ll be ready to play but that has yet to be determined. The Falcons have done a very good job controlling the clock and running the ball with Turner and Norwood. Expect a field goal game and maybe somehow the Falcons will get this victory on the road. 24-21 Falcons

Arizona Cardinals (+4.5) vs. Carolina Panthers

Anquan Bolidn for the Arizona Cardinals has returned to practice and may be able to play on sunday vs. the Panthers. Even without Boldin the Cardinals have been able to connect through the air with Fitzgerald and Breaston. The 5-2 Panthers are an impressive 4-0 at home but I look for that to end this week against the Cardinals if Boldin can play. Tim Hightower and Edgerrin James should get it done on the ground even though the Panthers have one of the leagues better defenses. 28-27 Cardinals Read the rest here

NFL Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire/Free Agent Pickups Bye Week Additions

Read: NFL Week 8 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire/Free Agent Pickups Bye Week Additions- by Michael Luchies here

If you are one of the many of Fantasy Football team owners who has a starting player from Green Bay, Minnesota, Denver, or Chicago, then you may need to make a pickup or two as these teams all have a bye week. Adrian Peterson, Ryan Grant, Matt Forte, and many other players will be useless for you this week. Here are five great plays for you to replace your bye week player

#5. Mike Furrey- WR Detroit Lions

The Lions are terrible and have to deal with the Washington Redskins these week at Ford Field. The good news for Mike Furrey is that it looks as though he is taking over Roy Williams spot and will receive a lot of looks his way. In week 7 Furrey had half of Orlovsky’s 12 completions. Furrey had 6 catches for 89 yards. Furrey led the NFC in receptions two years ago but has been forgotten about since the Lions drafted Calvin Johnson. The Lions should be down early and will be forced to pass. If no better option, Furrey may be a valuable addition for week 8.

#4. Pierre Thomas- RB New Orleans Saints

Reggie Bush is out, and Pierre Thomas should get most of Bush’s carries. McAllister will still get a bulk of the carries, but Thomas should be one of the top two options over Stecker. If Rhodes from Indy is available in your league then I would opt. for him over Thomas. Thomas should get around 40 yards and a TD.Read the rest here

NFL Week 7 Upset Predictions & Picks; Spread

Underdogs to Win & Games to Stay Away From by

Michael Luchies

This week the oddsmakers must have read my mind. There are not many upsets that jump off of the page, all of the picks look very solid point wise besides the two I have listed below. There are a few favorites who will win by more than the spread. Here are the week 7 picks.

Spread underdogs to win:

New Orleans Saints (+3) vs. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were just embarassed by Tampa Bay (27-3), and the Saints crushed the hopeless Raiders. Even traveling to Carolina shouldn’t pose a problem for the Saints offense who has only been getting better. Reggie Bush looks like Reggie Bush should, and Drew Brees has been hitting nameless receivers all season long. This will be a good game to watch, and the Saints will come out with a win 28-21.Read the rest here

Stubs4Sale.com Review by Nick Meyer

Read Stubs4sale.com where you can buy used game tickets to add to your collection by Nick Meyer

It seems that after every sporting event fans attend, they inevitably face the same dilemma: do I keep my ticket stub or toss it in the garbage? And if I do throw it out, will I end up regretting it later?

Fans often buy a souvenir or two like a t-shirt or hat at every big-time sporting event they go to, but the best souvenirs ten years or more down the road are often ticket stubs. They’re an exciting piece of memorabilia because they’re real, living proof that you actually attended the game.

Now, a new Web site gives sports fans a second chance to find ticket stubs for some memorable games and seasons in sports history. The ticket stubs on Stubs4Sale.com are part of founder Michael Luchies’ collection and feature events such as World Series, NCAA football games, NFL games, NBA games, and NCAA Tournament basketball games among others.

While you can find some ticket stubs on Stubs4Sale.com that are gems, the site has a forum-style element to it for fans looking to buy and sell than a large collection of everything from A to Z in the world of ticket stubsRead the rest here

NFL Week 6 Upset Predictions & Picks; Spread Underdogs to Win & Games to Stay Away From

NFL Week 6 Upset Predictions & Picks; Spread

Underdogs to Win & Games to Stay Away From by

Michael Luchies

Spread Underdogs to Win

Green Bay Packers +2 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Did the oddsmakers see the Seahawks play against the New York Giants last week? Well I did and it was ugly. The Packers also had a disappointing loss last week to the Atlanta Falcons, but at least they put up a fight. The Seahawks are regaining their team back from injuries especially at wide receiver. Aaron Rodgers looks stiff from his week 4 injury, but should be good to go against the seahawks. Expect Rodgers to eat up the Seahawks (The hawks have the 3rd worst passer rating against only behind the Lions and Rams), and for Ryan Grant to have a decent game as well. Packers win 31-21

New England Patriots +6 vs. San Diego Chargers

Who would have ever thought that these two teams would look as bad as they have so far this year. Both teams have lost to the Miami Dolphins! Doesn’t that just sound crazy to say? The San Diego Chargers and the New England Patriots lost to the Miami Dolphins….wow. Back to this game, Matt Cassell is starting to look like he could have actually started at USC and is becoming comfortable in the Pats offense. The Chargers did get cheated out of a couple games this year, but even with all the excuses in the world you can’t explain a 2-3 record. The Pats “upset” the Chargers in San Diego 28-24

FREE NCAA College Football Picks Week 7 (10/11); Beat the Spread!

Read NCAA College Football Picks Week 7 (10/11); Beat the Spread! by Michael Luchies

It was a good day last Saturday for college football. I underestimated the impact UCONN QB Tyler Lorenzen had on the team, and they looked terrible without him. This week is a hard week to pick as it seems that there are many inflated spreads. Texas Tech and Missouri lines are very hard for this week unlike last Saturday. Here they are, my week 7 college picks. Take my advice at your own risk! Good luck!

Iowa Hawkeyes -5 vs. Indiana Hoosiers
RB Shonn Greene for Iowa is the real deal and is in perfect health judging by his performance against Michigan State last week. Iowa has a very solid defense that should be able to shut down the Hoosiers. Don’t expect many points, but Iowa will cover 20-10 Iowa.

Vanderbilt Comodores -4 vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs
hmmm where to start, a 1-4 Mississippi State team against the 5-0 #13. team in the nation in Vanderbilt. I don’t care what history says in there last 10 meetings or that the game is at Mississippi State. The Comodores are on fire after beating Auburn, and will defeat Mississippi State by more than 4 points. Vandy 24-MSU 13 Read the rest here

NCAA College football picks (10/4) week 6

NCAAF Picks for 10/4 by Michael Luchies Read full article here

Here are my top picks for 10/4. Last week I had my best ever in college football, and felt compelled to share my college picks for this week. Please read the explanations and take my advice at your own risk! Good luck!

Penn State (-14.5) vs. Purdue
This spread started around -12 and quickly went to -14.5. If you take this game you may want to buy half a point just in case. Penn State looked amazing against Illinois and Purdue looked surprisingly sluggish in the second half against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Nittany Lions are on the road, but don’t expect them to let up on the Boilermakers, try to get this game at -14 or -13.5, -14.5 scares me. Penn State should win easily 42-21

Texas Tech (-9) vs. Kansas State
Texas Tech is averaging 572 yards offense per game and allowing only 16 points per game. The Red Raiders are 4-0 and ranked 7th in the nation. Kansas State is 3-1 with victories against weak opponents (Louisiana-Lafayette, Montana State, and North Texas) and lost to Louisville on the road by 9. Kansas State’s defense is not good enough to stop the Texas Tech Red Raiders. 52-21 Red Raiders

NFL Week 5 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire/Free Agent Pickups

NFL Week 5 fantasy football waiver wire/free agent pickups by Michael Luchies

Last weeks pickups were the best yet. Here are 5 players to pick up for week 5, and in general for the rest of the season.

#5. Shot in the dark RB replacements- For those of you who have Steven Jackson, Thomas Jones, Mcfadden, or any other running back that has a bye week, you a lot of options, but no definite ones. T.J. Duckett, Pierre Thomas, and Tim Hightower are possible running back pickups for week 5. If Chris Perry is available or Le’ron McClain you may want to pick them first, even though they don’t project to get many points this week. You have two decent running back options and they sitting at #3 and #1 on this list.

#4. Steve Breaston- Cardinals WR
Breaston has come out of nowhere to be a reliable target for Kurt Warner. Anquan Boldin is most likely out this week after a bone crushing hit he suffered against the Jets. Breaston is a solid play since Kurt Warner is on fire (470 yards last week). Fitzgerald will be double teamed most of the game this sunday by Buffalo, and I would be surprised if Breaston didn’t haul in 5-8 catches and a touchdown at the least. Read the Rest Here

NCAA Big 10 Conference Power Rankings

Read week 6 NCAA Football Big 10 conference power rankings by Michael Luchies

Although the Big 10 in 2008 may be lacking a team that can make a run at the National Championship, top to bottom they are among the top 3 conferences (SEC, and Big 12). Even the worst few teams in the Big 10 would compete and possibly win against any ACC, Big East, and Pac-10 (Minus USC) school. The worst few teams in the Big 10 are Iowa, Purdue, and Indiana? That is an extremely strong bottom three.

#1. Penn State (5-0)- looks unstoppable, should win the Big 10.
#2. Ohio State (4-1)- Pryor looks amazing and is finally fitting in with the offense and taking over the team.
#3. Michigan State (4-1)- Javon Ringer for Heisman
#4. Wisconsin (4-1)- Not as strong as believed before the season. Wisconsin’s next two games are against Penn State and Ohio State.
#5. Northwestern (5-0)- Surprise of the year? Or just a weak schedule? NU had a very easy preseason schedule and their Big 10 schedule has no Penn State or Wisconsin! The schedule gods love the Northwestern Wildcats. Their next game vs. MSU should show if they are for real.
#6. Michigan (2-2)- U of M should be at the bottom of the list after the first half of last weeks game vs. Wisconsin. Lucky for U of M Wisconsin fell apart and the Wolverines took over.
#7. Minnesota (4-1)- Minnesota was unable to stay close with Ohio State but has a strong offense and can compete with most teams in the country.
#8. Illinois (2-2)- Illinois looks like a solid but not good Big 10 team this year. Explosive at times, but the defense just has not been there when needed.
#9. Iowa (3-2)- Look for Iowa to move up with a healthy Shonn Greene at running back. This weeks contest with MSU should be a classic battle of rising running backs.
#10. Purdue (2-2)- A very solid offense who dominated Oregon for 3 1/2 quarters. Somehow Purdue slipped and then kept falling down against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
#11. Indiana (2-2)- The best last place conference team in all of division 1-A football. Indiana can put points on the board, but can’t stop anyone either.
